Digital collage and Animation

This series of works is made up of icons and backgrounds from GUIs (Graphic User Interface) drawn from early home computing. Created during and directly referencing our indoor isolation during the coronavirus pandemic, these works depicting interiors and landscapes, are overlaid by a sense of idleness – a reminder that each of these vignettes may have been experienced alone, expressing our collective and unified experience of the pandemic in our own individual spaces.

The use of familiar computer icons is reinterpreted, their function absolved, so that they become conceptual representations of the human made crisis we find ourselves in. The works consider the contrast between what is happening in the real world and our online lives which are ever more prevalent.
